Hi, I’m Meg.
I love traveling and made this blog mainly for Japanese travelers.
I started traveling within Japan a lot as we could not go abroad due to COVID-19 for years. I stayed at many highly recommended beautiful hotels and want to share them with travelers from overseas visiting Japan.
Starting from my first recommendation, THE RITZ-CARLTON KYOTO. If you are looking for the best hotels in Kyoto, this is the perfect place for you.
1. Rooms
Rooms from the lower rate:
Deluxe (City view)
Deluxe KYOTO (courtyard view)
Deluxe Garden (Japanese garden view)
Grand Deluxe Kamogawa river view
Garden Suite (Japanese garden view)
Garden Terrace Suite (Japanese garden view)
Garden Terrace Suite TATAMI (Japanese garden view)
Corner Suite KITA (Kamogawa river view)
Corner Suite TATAMI
Corner Suite MINAMI (Kamogawa river view)
Suite KAMOGAWA (Kamogawa river view)
Suite TSUKIMI (Japanese garden view)
The Ritz Carlton Suite (Kamogawa river view)
I booked the lowest “Deluxe (City view) room” but upgraded to “Grand Deluxe Kamogawa river view room” thanks to Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member benefits!!
Cold tea of IPPODO and chocolate Yatsuhashi of TSUJIRI served at check in were so good!
2.Grand Deluxe Kamogawa river view room
My room was upgraded to “Corner Suite KITA” the last time I stayed here, and it was soooo gorgeous (I’ll upload its English page later).
Kamogawa river view room assigned this time is also recommended and they are the lower half of the rooms below.
The door of the room was modern Japanese design.
Entering the room, one side was a long mini-bar counter and the other side was basin, closet and a bathroom.
On the mini-bar counter, there were Nespresso machine, free bottled water, etc.
There were glasses, cups, mini-fridge under the counter.
Six capsules for Nespresso were placed.
Drinks in the mini-fridge were available for a fee.
Tea bags were Ronnefeldt’s earl gray, Lemon Sky herbal tea and Japanese Hoji-cha.
Russell Hobbs’ electric kettle.
There were wooden hangers, security box in the drawer,
Yukatas and slippers (you cannot bring back Yukatas with you).
Basin, bathroom, huge mirror at the end and
and it’s the door of the bathroom, tricky!
3.Basin and a bathroom
The basin has double bowl and the part of the mirror was a TV!
Asprey soap and a hand made organic facial soap of KYOTO SHABONYA with a very nice scent of Hinoki (Japanese cypress).
Bath amenities were set in a beautiful Japanese lacquer tone box.
In the box, there were toothbrushes, hair brush, mouthwash, etc.
Nobby by TESCOM hair dryer.
There was a separate washing place in a bathroom with a beautiful cherry flower (Sakura) petals fluttering wall. The drainboard smells of Hinoki (Japanese cypress) which was so good and relaxing.
Hand shower and rain shower.
Asprey’s shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.
Bath pillow, Asprey soap, loofah sponge, body towel to help you enjoy your bath time.
Two kinds of bath salt, Yuzu blend and Hinoki blend by Kyoto Shabonya.
4.Room
When you enter the room, you’ll see this. What do you think this is?
Beautiful Japanese tea set was covered with cloth. Kukisencha (Japanese twig tea) teabags of IPPODO were so good! Must try.
Spacious room with a full size window of Kamogawa river view.
Simmons bed mattress with a thick bed pad and a thin bed pad which made the bed so comfy. Pillows were both so soft (rather thin).
Tivoli Audio radio and one outlet on one side of the bed, and
Tivoli Audio Alarm clock radio+bluetooth speaker and one outlet on the other side of the bed.
Sofa with a small table in front of the bed.
Sitting area was designed inspired by the Japanese Engawa (verandah).
Bonsai by the window and a huge TV.
Only one TV in the sitting area? Don’t worry, you can turn it around like this so that you can watch TV from the beds or sofa!
Welcome fruits (grapes and oranges), sweets in a box and other sweets for my family member’s birthday gift. Thank you!
The sweets in a box were UJI matcha senbei (green tea wefar).
After the turndown, mini-chocolate was placed on the bed.
I requested ladies skin care products and they gave me cleansing, lotion, beauty serum of KYO NO HINOKI in a small pouch for free.
Beautiful Kamogawa river view from the window of the room.
5.Pool
Luxury quiet pool. (No photo allowed so the picture is from the official site)
Rental swimsuits for adults are available for free. Children above 4 years old can use the pool if you bring their swimsuits. In the shower room of the changing room, luxury U.K. brand ESPA’s shampoo, conditioner, bodywash are available and the dryers are gorgeous REPRONIZER 4D Plus!
The hotel was so gorgeous and female staff at the front desk wear kimono which made you feel traditional Japanese atmosphere in a very modern sophisticated hotel.
It’s one my favorite hotels in Kyoto and highly recommended!
I’ll share dinner and breakfast at the hotel next.
