Hi, I’m Meg.
Waldorf Astoria is Hilton’s most prestigious luxury brand.
The first Waldorf Astoria in Japan was opened in April 2025 in a very convenient location near JR Osaka Station (not JR Shin-Osaka station where bullet trains stop).
In this review, based on my stay in November 2025, I’ll focus on:
・Hilton Diamond member benefits
・Room upgrade details and in-room experience
・Views, amenities, and overall atmosphere
・Whether the hotel is suitable for families, couples, or special occasions

1. Hilton Diamond Member Benefits
(As of November 2025)
As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, the following benefits were offered:
・Complimentary breakfast for two
・1,000 bonus points
・Free high-speed Wi-Fi
・Room upgrade (subject to availability)
・Late check-out (subject to availability)
・100% bonus points on stays
・Digital check-in and check-out
・Digital key access
・¥4,000 hotel credit per night (for the member’s room only)
・25% discount at hotel restaurants
One highlight was that the Hilton discount and hotel credit could be used together, making dining at the hotel restaurant extremely good value.
Because I stayed during a three-day holiday weekend, I did not receive a suite upgrade or late check-out. If upgrades or late check-out are important to you, I highly recommend visiting during the weekdays and the off-season.
2. Room Upgrade
Due to high occupancy during the holiday weekend, my upgrade stopped just short of a suite.
Room categories (from entry level to top tier):
・Deluxe (original booking)
・Premier
・Premier River View ← Upgraded room
・King Corner Suite
・King Corner Suite River View
・Two-Bedroom Corner Suite
・Astoria Penthouse / Waldorf Penthouse
・Presidential Suite
Even so, I was very grateful for the upgrade to a river-view room—thank you, Waldorf Astoria Osaka!
3. Premier River View Room
Guest rooms are located between the 31st and 38th floors.
My room was on the 32nd floor.

The elevator lobby and hallway feature a refined modern Japanese aesthetic, creating a calm and elegant atmosphere.

Upon entering the room, the first thing that catches your eye is the large floor-to-ceiling window directly ahead. To the right are the walk-in closet and bathroom.

Bedroom & View
The bedroom is spacious, with full-height windows offering excellent views.
By the window, there is a sofa, a round table, and a chair—perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. A wet bar is located toward the back of the room.

The wall design behind the bed is beautifully detailed, and the mattress is a Simmons Beautyrest, ensuring a very comfortable night’s sleep.

The river view is stunning, with a combination of cityscape and distant mountains—especially beautiful both day and night.

Night view is also amazing!

Opposite the bed is a large flat-screen TV.

Welcome Amenities
On the table, I received welcome fruit and a birthday cake as part of the HPCJ (Hilton Premium Club Japan) birthday cake benefit.
The Shine Muscat grapes were crisp, and the red grapes were sweet and delicious.

Wet Bar & Minibar
The wet bar includes a Nespresso machine and a selection of alcoholic beverages (chargeable).

Inside the drawers:
Coffee capsules, tea bags, cups, glasses, and chargeable wine

The complimentary tea selection featured three organic Japanese teas:
・Shinonome Sencha
・Utatane Black Tea
・Kunpu Lemongrass Herbal Tea

The minibar refrigerator was almost completely full with chargeable drinks, leaving space for little more than bottled water.

Stylish BALMUDA electric kettle, ice bucket,

and chargeable snacks were also provided.

Traditional yet modern Japanese teapot and tea cups.

Tablet device and a beautiful jewelry box.

Each bedside has:
・One power outlet
・One USB-C (PD) port
There are no standard USB-A ports, which may be slightly inconvenient for some travelers (like me!).

4. Walk-in Closet & Nightwear
The walk-in closet is located immediately to the right upon entering the room.

Inside:
・Large full-length mirror
・Luggage bench
・Plush slippers, brush, and sewing kit
・In-room safe
・Separate pajama set

The pajamas were a standout—soft, stretchy, and extremely comfortable.
They are sold at the spa for ¥15,000 (white only).

An iron and ironing board are located on the opposite side of the closet.

5. Bathroom
The bathroom is located next to the walk-in closet

and features:
・A large bathtub (with shower attachment)
Although the bathtub may not look large in photo, it is quite large and takes time to fill.

・Separate shower booth with rain and handheld showers with extremely plush bathrobes (also sold at the spa for ¥20,000)

・Double vanity sinks

・Enclosed toilet

Amenities
-
Aesop shampoo, conditioner, and body cleanser

・Aesop body balm and hand wash

・Dyson hair dryer (in a box!)

Amenities included:
・Shaving kit
・Nail file
・Loofah sponge
・Shower cap
・Cotton set
・Comb
・Toothbrush
・White Glo toothpaste (paper packaging—my first time seeing this!)

During turndown service, additional bottled water and a small box of chocolate were placed by the bed.

The coffee-flavored chocolate was beautifully presented and delicious.

6. Rental Items
Waldorf Astoria Osaka does not provide a formal rental item list, but when I asked, the staff kindly arranged the following:
・Dyson humidifying air purifier

・Cell Phone charging cable
・Women’s skincare set (only toner and serum by Aesop)
・Nail clippers (with nail file)

・Aesop mouthwash (upon request)

Service was attentive and flexible throughout the stay.
Final Thoughts: Is Waldorf Astoria Osaka Family-Friendly?
Given its luxury image, some may wonder whether Waldorf Astoria Osaka is suitable for children.
From my experience, the hotel does not feel “adults-only” at all.
Families with young children were warmly welcomed, while couples and solo travelers can still enjoy a refined and romantic atmosphere.
Whether you are traveling as a couple, with family, or on a girls’ trip, Waldorf Astoria Osaka offers an exceptional and comfortable luxury stay—perfect for anniversaries and special occasions.
