Hi, I’m Meg.
I love traveling, mainly abroad, but due to COVID-19, started traveling within Japan a lot as we could not go abroad.
I’d like to share some highly recommended beautiful hotels in Japan for those who are interested in Japan/thinking of visiting Japan.
One of my favorite hotels in Kyoto is the Ritz Carlton Kyoto (room information was shared here).
Today, take a look at the excellent dinner and breakfast I had at the hotel.
1.Dinner at Kaiseki MIZUKI (Japanese kaiseki cuisine)
There are 5 restaurants in the hotel, 1. Kaiseki MIZUKI, 2. Sushi MIZUKI, 3. Tempura MIZUKI, 4. Teppan MIZUKI and 5. La Locanda (Italian). My daughter wanted to have dinner made by the chef Miura so went to 1. Kaiseki MIZUKI. Dinner course menu was written both in Japanese and in English. Fine dining so the price is high but everything was so good and beautiful!
The plates served there are from the private collection of chef Miura, valuable and gorgeous. These are the series of Mt. Fuji collection.
First, corn tofu was served. We’ve never had corn tofu before, it was tasty!
Pike conger soup. The fish was so soft!
Water shield!
Another collection plate of chef Miura and the hand written card by chef Miura were displayed.
Sashimi. What a beautiful dish!!
Delicacies. So delicious!
Wagyu beef steamed dish on the real wood.
Cold thin noodle and Tempura fish.
It was my daughter’s birthday and they kindly put a birthday plate on dessert (by Pierre Herme Paris) with rose petals. Thank you, so moved!!
Finished with green tea. Innovative and artistic presentation of the dishes!
2.Breakfast at the restaurant
You can choose either American breakfast or Japanese breakfast. We usually order each one of them but Japanese breakfast is served at MIZUKI while American breakfast at La Locanda here so the same group must choose the same type. We look for Ispahan of Pierre Herme and if you choose Japanese breakfast, you cannot have ispahan so chose American breakfast. Served in a set plate. You can also choose to have breakfast in your room.
Selection of egg dish : 1. Egg benedict, 2. Omelette, 3. Scrambled egg/fried egg/boiled egg/poached egg, 4. Pierre Herme Paris French Toast.
Watermelon juice and grapefruit juice.
Set plate. Salad, avocado chicken, pumpkin soup, yogurt, fruits, cappucino.
Pierre Herme bread buffet. It’s the highlight of the breakfast here for us!
Chose Ispahan and Infiniment Citron. Both of them are soooo good!!! You can buy them at the Pierre Herme boutique in the hotel. So surprised that the price in Tokyo was 540yen but here only 410yen. They are sold out fast (around noon) so if you want to buy them, you should go there before noon.
French toast was also good!
But the egg benedict was the best!!
The finest quality of the Ritz Carlton definitely makes you feel happy!
The price is also gorgeous (expensive) but if you are a Marriott Bonvoy platinum or higher status elite member, you can enjoy very good free breakfast for two.
I’m sure you enjoy staying here, highly recommended!!
